Our Mission

The Friends of Allensworth is the official cooperating association for Colonel Allensworth State Historic Park. We are a member-supported 501(c)(3) charitable organization who’s mission is to support, promote and advance the educational and interpretive activities at Colonel Allensworth State Historic Park.

Our Board

We are a group of volunteers dedicated to increasing the public’s awareness of Chaplain Allen Allensworth, the town of Allensworth, and Colonel Allensworth State Historic Park.

Our History

We are committed to educating the public about the Township of Allensworth’s rich history through immersive events.


Preservation

Colonel Allen Allensworth was a significant person in the African-American community when he retired from the military and founded the township, Allensworth. By joining us at events held at Allensworth, you are helping us preserve the legacy of Allensworth.

Awareness

The significance of Allensworth is that this community was founded, built, and governed by African-Americans, so they would be able to live free from the racial discrimination that continued decades after the end of the Civil War.

Education
