Tours & Education
In addition to being a great learning site for adults, Colonel Allensworth State Historic Park also hosts many great educational programs for the students. Kids have the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities such as exploring the various buildings, going on tours, and even making their own butter.
Students come on school busses and a tour is set up with state park employees. Their participation in activities such as churning butter, canning food, candle making, helps them understand how life was in the early 1900s.
Adults can call the park for a tour with park staff and request the African American Tour with Friends of Allensworth immediately afterward. Please be advised that you can only ride Amtrak to our Juneteenth Event and our October Event. Amtrak does not stop for our other events at this time.
Cornelius Ed. Pope, a driving force behind the Colonel Allensworth State Historic Park, using an opportunity to speak about Allensworth history.

The Colonel Allensworth State Historic Park is located Earlimart, CA which is about a two hour drive from Los Angeles.
